With "Transformers: The movie" released, and the cartoon still strong, many new "Futuristic" transformers would join the transformers ranks. City-like giants like Metroplex, Trypticon and 5 more merge groups would be introduced this year. This year would also bring in a new autobot leader "Rodimus Prime", as well as a new decepticon leader "Galvatron". Also this year's transformers would see hasbro create new molds and abandone the use of pre-existing japanese molds for its toys.
